SUNSHINE TRAUMA SEASON PART II
Summer falls can be completely unexpected, surprising and sometimes outright shocking. In summer, we reasonably bare legs and arms to cool down in the summer sun and are not bundled up and padded in extra winter clothing. There is no clothing cocoon around us to cushion the fall and reduce the trauma. And when we fall and are injured through no fault of our own, and because of the negligence of property owners and maintenance companies that failed to provide a reasonably safe place for us to walk, then those injuries can be life changing.
Some of the most serious injuries result from summer slips and falls. Icy winter weather is not the only culprit.
Stats Canada reminds us that 30% of all injuries occur in the summer. The likelihood of injury changes with the season and is actually higher in the summer months than winter. The summer is trauma season, and experienced injury lawyers see the spike in trip and falls in stores, parking lots and sidewalks as well as car crashes on our deadly summer roads.
Don't discount your injuries and loss just because you fell during the summer months. Don't let anyone tell you that your injuries count for nothing just because you fell in the summer.
